Who
needs an air dryer?
If your facility relies
on compressed air, then you are a candidate for an air dryer. Call MRS
for more information today!
Why do
you need an air dryer?
Did you know
that at 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 75% relative humidity, with an air
compressor generating 100 cubic feet of air per minute for 8 hours,
approximately 8 gallons of water are generated into the airline system?
This begins during the compression stage, and the water is in a vapor
state. As the compressed air travels down stream, the air cools to or
below it’s pressure dew point and the vapor becomes a liquid.
This liquid is a
corrosive water that contaminates all the metal components in which it
contacts, such as pipes, traps, valves, gauges, pneumatic tools,
machinery, and instruments. The liquid not only contaminates metal, but
also removes any lubricants that may be used. The condensed water and
hydrocarbons from the compressor’s lubricating oil mix together and
become a form of acid. This acid spoils paint finishes and causes more
frequent filter element changes.
MRS
recommends using an air dryer with your system to eliminate any of this
from happening to your equipment. Although we sell, install, and service
all brands of refrigerated and desiccant air dryers, we recommend the CompAir-Kellogg
and Great Lakes brands.
